Hamideh Moeinfar, an Iranian writer, filmmaker, and literary translator, was born on June 2, 1983, in Tehran. She began her filmmaking career in 2008 with the short documentary Three, and the same year she earned her Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Tehran. In January 2010, she moved to Sweden to pursue Gender Studies at Lund University—an experience that inspired her second short film, Mariposa (2012).
After returning to Iran, she directed short fiction films, two psychological thrillers that reflected her fascination with film noir and psychological cinema. This path ultimately led to her first feature film, Hamoun’s Night (2020).
In addition to filmmaking, Hamideh Moeinfar is a literary translator, with a growing body of fiction and non-fiction works published in her translations. Her first translation, titled The Little Book of Hygge, was published in Iran in 2018, followed by four other book translations. Her latest work is the translation of the Swedish novel En Helt Vanlig Familj, published in 2025 by Baran Publication in Sweden.
In recent years, from writing stories and screenplays to producing podcasts, she continues to explore diverse forms of storytelling.
